Contemporary Arab authors

This week Hedayet Institute for Arabic Studies hosted a lecture by Egyptian author Dr. Reda Attia رضا عطية on creative and innovative contemporary young Arab authors, with focus on Iraqi works written in exile.

“This was a very interesting and well explained view on how these authors describe their sentiments of being in exile and the Arabic terms and expressions used to relay those feelings”, says one of the students currently taking our Arabic Literature elective course. The seminar comes as part of the school’s weekly cultural activities, which purpose is to give students a total immersion in the Arabic language and understanding of this region’s culture.

Dr. Reda Attia is himself a young contemporary author and presented one of his books at the Cairo International Book Fair last month, an event attended by students of Hedayet school.
